Frequently Asked Questions

What is Guiding Paws?

Guiding Paws ICT is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to helping every blind and visually impared individual in the Wichita, KS area receive a guide dog. We do this through asking for donations and spreading awareness by partnering with local organizations and businesses.

How is my donation spent?

Each donation goes into a general account for Guiding Paws ICT. This account is overseen by a board of directors that, every month, looks at the organization’s expenses and decides how best to further our goals while maintaining a healthy support staff for Guiding Paws operations. We do our best to keep overhead to a bare minimum so that we can provide maximum support to those that need it most.

Does my donation stay local?

YES! While we work with national organizations to spread awareness, our primary goal is to help blind and visually impaired individuals right here in Kansas. Every dollar donated supports local individuals.

How many guide dogs per year does Guiding Paws provide?

As many as we can. In the aftermath of a pandemic, many organizations such as ours saw a decrease in giving, but, our hope is that as our organization grows, we’ll be able to do MUCH more!

Are donations to Guiding Paws tax deductible?

Absolutely. Guiding Paws is approved by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501 (C) (3) tax-exempt organization, and all donations are tax deductible to the extent provided by law. If you have questions about claiming donations on your taxes, please contact your accountant.

How are guide dogs trained?

We work with Guiding Eyes for the Blind who offer extensive programs for training dogs from a very early age to become effective and reliable guide dogs.
